The implementation of the Third Edition of The Roman Missal presents several pastoral and practical challenges for the Church, particularly in the area of ritual music. The Dwellings Mass meets these challenges by enabling the assembly to sing the words of the Mass recto-tonally– on a single, accessible pitch— in rhythms that adhere to natural cadences in the language. Accompanying this meditative prayer is a simple but powerful choral harmony and the freedom to employ almost any combination of instrumental resources. Composed with great care for the people gathered and the gifts unique to each community, The Dwellings Mass is an approachable and adaptable addition to any worshipping community's repertoire.
